Iraola returns to Vitality as Liverpool edge Bournemouth with Isak

Liverpool secured three points at the Vitality Stadium with a 0-1 win over Bournemouth, in Andoni Iraola’s return to the touchline as an opponent. The match followed a predictable script early on, with the first half producing very few clear chances as the teams reached the break goalless.

A dull start with few chances

Bournemouth’s best moment came in the 18th minute when home forward Evanilson tried a clever backheel from inside the box. Alisson Becker responded with a top save, tipping the ball over for a corner. After that, the tempo didn’t really rise, and neither side managed to force the issue.

The second half changed things when Alexander Isak struck in the 57th minute. The forward reacted to a loose ball in the area following a cross from the right by Cody Gakpo, finally putting Liverpool ahead—meaning Bournemouth fell behind for the first time this season.

Isak’s goal seals it

From then on, Liverpool managed the game well and created enough stability to see out the victory. Bournemouth couldn’t find an equaliser, and the contest finished without further goals.

With the win, Liverpool made good on the need to respond after the Arsenal result (a 3-0 win over Brighton) and moved to sixth place ahead of the international break. Bournemouth, meanwhile, sit near the bottom with 3 points, level with Coventry who occupy the relegation spots.
