Jaissle takes charge: Newcastle begins a new chapter

An era was ending at Newcastle when Eddie Howe decided to step aside following a disappointing season. His successor, Matthias Jaissle, is already making his mark at the English club with intense and demanding methods.

According to BBC Sport, the new German manager has introduced double training sessions of extraordinary harshness that have left players exhausted. Jaissle, arriving from Saudi Arabian club Al-Ahli, insists on training the way you play and has emphasised the importance of clean sheets. His philosophy combines vertical, aggressive football with solid defensive foundations: at RB Salzburg he won consecutive titles and reached the Champions League round of 16 with extraordinary numbers in recoveries and final-third dominance.

Newcastle's project also shifted in the transfer market. Following Sandro Tonali's departure to Tottenham and Anthony Gordon's move to Barcelona, plus captain Bruno Guimaraes' impending exit to Arsenal, the club has pivoted towards younger continental signings: Lukas Hornicek, Aladji Bamba, Sean Steur and Bazoumana Toure bolster a squad in transformation.

Jaissle will make his debut in a friendly against Valencia at the Mestalla on Saturday. With little time to prepare before the league opener against Liverpool on 23 August, Jaissle's coaching staff compared the situation to a «speed dating session» where every minute counts.
