The RFEF seeks Istanbul as the venue for the 2027 Super Cup after Saudi Arabia was ruled out due to the Asian Cup.
Real Sociedad will play the Spanish Super Cup in an unusual venue this year. According to Mundo Deportivo, the RFEF has found Turkey as an alternative after Saudi Arabia was ruled out, where the competition has been held in recent years. The reason: the Arab country will host the Asian Cup (ending February 5th), a tournament in which Take Kubo will participate with Japan.
The competition will take place in early February in Istanbul, which has major stadiums such as Besiktas, Galatasaray and Fenerbahce. It will be the first time the txuri urdin have traveled to Turkey since 2003, when they faced Galatasaray in the Champions League.
In the draw, Real Sociedad will meet the league runners-up in the semi-finals, Mourinho's Real Madrid. On the other side of the bracket will be Atlético Madrid and Barcelona. Meanwhile, the RFEF is negotiating to extend its agreement with Saudi Arabia until 2030 to keep the competition there in upcoming years.
