Official: Rodri completes Barcelona move as Ballon d'Or signing

The Spanish midfielder signs with Barcelona after passing medical tests. The deal is worth 60 million euros fixed plus variables that could reach 70 million.

Rodri Hernández is now officially a Barcelona player. The Madrid-born midfielder completed his medical at the Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper on Tuesday and signed his contract hours later, according to *Mundo Deportivo*.

The arrival of the 2024 Ballon d'Or winner strengthens Barcelona's midfield with a deal worth 60 million euros fixed plus add-ons that could take the final cost to 70 million. The player, arriving from Manchester City, will wear number 16 and reunite with several Spain teammates: Lamine Yamal, Pedri, Dani Olmo, Pau Cubarsí, Gavi and Eric García.

A signing of world-class stature

At 30 years old, Rodri arrives with all the pedigree of dominating Europe. After seven seasons at City under Pep Guardiola, he has amassed 298 appearances and 12 major titles: four Premier League crowns, an FA Cup, three League Cups, a Champions League (scoring in the 2023 final), a European Super Cup and a Club World Cup. This summer, he also won the World Cup with Spain and was named the tournament's best player while captaining the side.

First contact with supporters

The Barcelona player will be officially presented on Wednesday at Camp Nou during the Gamper festivities, before the match against Egypt's Al-Ahly. A signing that reflects manager Hansi Flick's project and adds experience, leadership and hierarchy to Barcelona's pursuit of reclaiming the Champions League.
