Rodri faces huge choice: Man City or Spanish giants?

Manchester City midfielder Rodri is in the final year of his contract, and BBC Sport confirms both Real Madrid and Barcelona are pursuing him.

Rodri's future at Manchester City is wide open this summer. According to BBC Sport, both Real Madrid and Barcelona are tracking the 30-year-old midfielder, who has just one year left on his current deal and has not yet agreed new terms with the club.

Real Madrid have held long-standing interest, but the development is Barcelona joining the race—though the Blaugrana sources have denied such talk when contacted by BBC Sport. Rodri had previously said his future would be sorted after the World Cup, where he shone as Spain's player of the tournament and helped them lift the trophy.

The midfielder is currently out injured following back surgery. Manchester City have made clear they are "counting on" the player next season and would require a significant offer to even consider selling. Rodri now faces three options: sign fresh terms at City, run down his contract to become a free agent next summer, or make a return to Spain after his early career at Atlético Madrid.
