Terzic insists there are “no culprits” after Levante-Athletic was suspended

Athletic head into Saturday’s match against Alavés with the week shaped by the suspension of Wednesday’s game at Levante, after a torrential storm flooded the Ciudad de Valencia stadium. In a post on Instagram, the club shared footage showing the impact the weather had in Valencia, which ultimately led to the match being stopped.

A disrupted week

Asked about the postponement, Terzic was direct: “No one is to blame for that situation. It was impossible.” He explained the team had to reshuffle their preparation, compensating for the lost session with training the following day, adding that the schedule change hasn’t caused issues: “We had to make up the work with training the day after, but there hasn’t been any problem,” he said.

Focus on Alavés

Terzic also discussed what the calendar looks like for the squad. The rescheduled Levante-Athletic date of October 21 could allow Vivian to be available, since after treatment for pubalgia he is expected to start training during the international break period with the team, barring setbacks. “It may help some players, but not others. What we have to do is be ready to find quick solutions,” he said, stressing that the key thing is the next match, against Alavés.

Padilla called up

The coach also commented on Padilla’s selection for Mexico for four international fixtures. “We’re delighted for him… What matters to me is that he shows I can count on him,” Terzic said, as reported by MARCA.
