Torres opens the door: «Show me they want me»

Ferran Torres returns to Barcelona with the prestige of sealing Spain's second World Cup title, but his remarks during a promotional tour in the United States have cast doubt over his future. According to BBC Sport, the forward stated: «I have a contract with Barcelona, but in football you never know» and explicitly demanded: «Show me they want me, come to negotiate».

His words about Paris Saint-Germain's reported interest—«Whenever these teams want you it's a good thing»—have frustrated Barcelona fans, who believe he is attempting to strengthen his negotiating position. Torres is under contract until June 2027, meaning he could negotiate with other clubs from January onwards if no agreement is reached.

Barcelona remains relaxed and plans to speak with him upon his return on 12 August. The club wants to renew his contract, though reports suggest those negotiations could be delayed until September to avoid affecting Financial Fair Play regulations. A renewal would also trigger a payment of nearly £7 million to Manchester City due to a clause from his 2022 transfer.
