beIN Sports loses La Liga rights to DAZN and Disney+

La Liga is switching broadcasters after 14 years, with DAZN and Disney+ taking over distribution.

The end of an era in Spanish football broadcasting. beIN Sports is losing the La Liga rights after 14 years as the distributor in France, with DAZN and Disney+ taking over from next season. The announcement came from Javier Tebas, president of La Liga, in an interview with *Le Monde*.

Each platform will hold 100% of the broadcasting rights without sharing matches between them. According to Tebas, the shift is a clear bet on streaming: «The moment was right to open a new chapter. Disney+ and DAZN presented us with an ambitious vision, combining wide reach and genuine sports expertise.» The executive sees this transition as an opportunity to reach more fans, not a risk of losing them.

This loss adds to other recent setbacks for beIN Sports: it recently lost its Saturday afternoon Ligue 1 slot and gave up Serie A rights to DAZN two years ago. Among major competitions, the Qatari channel now retains only the Bundesliga, the French Cup, and Ligue 2.
