15.8% of Eldense seized as precaution against Carolina Holguín
A Madrid court orders a preventive seizure of 15.8% of Eldense shares from former president Carolina Holguín while the sale to Leo Messi progresses, MARCA reports.
A Madrid court has ordered a preventive seizure of 15.8% of Eldense’s shareholding, owned by former president Carolina Holguín, over a debt owed to ex-owner Pascual Pérez, according to MARCA.
The move lands while the club’s takeover by Lionel Messi is nearing completion—something Eldense’s directors had already flagged days earlier. The dispute goes back to the earlier sale of the club: on 6 October 2025, Pérez—through his company El Flautista—sold 100% of the shares to Holguín for €6.294m.
Sale and the loan
The payment of €5.245m was made when the Colombian businesswoman took on the debt El Flautista owed to Eldense.
Later, on 23 December, Pérez and Holguín signed a €1m loan agreement. In two installments, €998,000 was transferred between 26 and 29 December.
Court’s partial decision
After Pérez argued that he never received the money as agreed, he brought a claim against Holguín and—given the imminent sale of shares to Messi—asked for a precautionary seizure covering the 3,147 shares representing 100% ownership.
As EFE, cited by MARCA, states, the court granted the request only partly: the seizure was reduced to 499 shares, reasoning that this better matches the debt proportion between both parties. The ruling cannot be appealed, but Holguín has 20 days to file an objection.
Last week, Eldense said Holguín stopped being president, and the Colombian board’s statement effectively treated the move to Messi as done. In the meantime, the club has not provided further details about the transaction or who will lead the board’s top role.
