Aday Benítez takes over Mirandés bench for the rest of the season
Mirandés have agreed with Aday Benítez to manage the team in Primera Federación until the end of the season.
Club Deportivo Mirandés and Aday Benítez have reached an agreement for the coach to lead the rojillo team for the rest of the season in Primera Federación, the club said in its announcement. The change comes just hours after Mirandés ended its contractual link with Antxon Muneta.
A new coach on the bench
The team’s campaign hasn’t gone as expected: they are 12th, 11 points behind the leader, Lugo, but only one point outside the playoff places. The club points to the poor level of play shown in the team’s most recent matches as the reason for the move.
Benítez’s background
The club also highlights that Aday Benítez Caraballo (Barcelona, 1987) coached Club Esportiu Europa from 2024 to 2026. In 2024-25 he got the side promoted to Primera Federación as Group 3 leaders from matchday 27 to the end, and in his second season they finished a historic 5th, earning a spot in the promotion playoff, where they were eliminated by Celta Fortuna.
Benítez will take his first training session with Mirandés tomorrow, Wednesday at 10:30, at Anduva.
