Aimar Blázquez makes his Valencia debut under Óscar Sánchez

In a week in charge as Valencia’s interim coach, Óscar Sánchez has already delivered two standouts. If earlier it was Aarón Mayol who debuted under his guidance, this Sunday the second chance came with Aimar Blázquez, who made his first appearance at Mestalla against Real Sociedad.

Debut after coming on in 82nd

Per Mundo Deportivo, the Madrid-born forward entered the match in the 82nd minute, replacing Hugo Duro. Blázquez wasted little time making an impact: he took part in the move that led to the 2-2, following Beitia’s own goal. In the closing stages, he even had a clear chance to level again, but Remiro thwarted him with a top save.

A scorer’s path to the first team

At 20 years old, Blázquez reaches this milestone after a strong academy progression, as Mundo Deportivo notes, starting when he joined Valencia’s system in 2021-22 at just 15. Before that, he came through the setups of Rayo Vallecano, Real Madrid, Leganés and Villarreal.

In 2023-24, he finished as the top scorer of his Division of Honor Juvenil group with 22 goals in 19 games. The following season he boosted his numbers even further: 31 goals in 31 matches for Juvenil A, coached by Óscar Sánchez. That campaign brought a Copa de Campeones runner-up finish and a route to the Youth League.

With Valencia still in the relegation mix and the club awaiting the arrival of Mexican Javier Aguirre, Blázquez’s debut adds to the positives Sánchez has been able to draw from the Academy—something he started with Mayol as well.
