Aitor Mañas debuts as a scorer in Primera and rescues Alavés
The academy striker netted late to earn Alavés a 1-1 draw with Málaga despite six straight winless matches.
Deportivo Alavés salvaged a 1-1 draw with Málaga in LaLiga thanks to Aitor Mañas, who made his Primera Division scoring debut with a late strike. The goal came after he pounced on a rebound inside the box, following Toni Martínez’s header and a standout save by Alfonso Herrero.
As MARCA reports, the match underlined the team’s problems under Quique Sánchez Flores: Alavés put in their worst performance since his arrival, too stretched between lines, predictable in their build-up and lacking bite in the duels—despite reacting in the second half by widening the field.
Mañas was coming off a scare in Santander, where he suffered a concussion that kept him out for the next two games. With everything going against them, Quique paired him in the front line with Boyé and Toni Martínez, and the ’20’ leveled to prevent a collapse.
