Alba’s ex-connection: Joseba Etxeberria as Albés and Ramis are sacked

October brought four sackings tied to Alba: Albés at Leganés, González at Albacete, and De la Barrera at Las Palmas, plus Ramis’s case.

Alba, with Joseba Etxeberria on the bench, is watching how the “ex-effect” hits former coaches: Rubén Albés, Alberto González, Rubén de la Barrera and Luis Miguel Ramis have all lost their jobs this October.

First to go was Alberto González at Albacete, sacked on October 3 after a 1-3 home defeat to Eibar on matchday eight. Through the first eight games he had managed just one point (one draw, seven losses). He arrived in March 2024 and leaves after 108 official matches.

Four benches, one month

Next, Leganés confirmed Rubén Albés’ departure this Sunday after ten matchdays: 3 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats, including four straight losses. Albés had led Alba from July 2022 to March 2024, with 79 official games, and also experienced the 2022-23 promotion playoffs.

Earlier, Rubén de la Barrera was dismissed by UD Las Palmas on October 12 after nine matchdays (three wins, two draws and four defeats). At Alba he clocked 42 official games: 22 wins, 10 draws and 10 losses, leaving in June 2022 just days after securing promotion.

The picture is completed by Luis Miguel Ramis, who coached Albacete between 2018 and 2020 (72 official games), reaching the promotion playoff in his first season before being sacked in February 2020 with the club in the relegation zone, according to MARCA.
