Albacete take a 5-0 hit and rack up negative records in Segunda
The 5-0 loss to Real Valladolid leaves Albacete bottom: 1 point after nine games, with eight defeats and four straight losses.
Albacete were thrashed 5-0 this Monday at José Zorrilla by Real Valladolid, a scoreline they hadn’t endured since 1 February 2004. The defeat leaves the club marooned at the bottom of the table: 1 point out of 27 after nine matchdays, with eight losses and four consecutive defeats.
It also matches a grim historical benchmark for Segunda, tying the start of EHA de Tánger back in 1940, according to a post from the X account LaLigaEnDirecto cited by MARCA. The blow was felt off the pitch too: several dozen fans staged a protest gathering at the club’s training ground before the squad returned from Valladolid.
Next up in Gijón
On Saturday, Albacete play at El Molinón 'Enrique Castro Quini'. Joseba Etxeberria framed it as a chance to turn things around, saying the team should treat it “as an opportunity to win and, from there, keep growing”.
