Albert Celades sacked: Cádiz slip into relegation spots
Cádiz dismisses the Catalan coach after 7 points from 30 and defeat at Granada; Raúl Valbuena and Juan José del Ojo also leave.
Cádiz have sacked Albert Celades after failing to turn things around, leaving him with seven points from 30. As MARCA reports, the decision follows Sunday’s loss at Granada, putting the yellow side in relegation spots to Primera Federación.
The move also hits the staff: the club has confirmed the dismissals of Raúl Valbuena and Juan José del Ojo. Cádiz has not yet named who will take charge of the team.
Celades arrived when the season was about to start, replacing Imanol Idiakez with just four days to go and inheriting a squad heavily reshaped by 17 signings. With no pre-season to install his ideas, he built as the league began. A 4-0 win over Leganés looked like a turning point, but it proved to be his only victory.
The setbacks soon followed: Sporting won at the Nuevo Mirandilla with a goal in the 87th minute, and Granada claimed the Andalusian derby with goals from Gumbau and Jorge Pascual after the break.
