Alberto González stays at Albacete after 2-0 loss to Girona

Albacete will not change coach Alberto González despite a 2-0 defeat at the hands of Girona, a result that sends them to the last place in the Liga Hypermotion table. The run is now six losses from seven games, matching the club’s worst league start since 2007-08.

As reported by MARCA, after meetings over the weekend the club rules out an immediate switch on the bench. Alberto, clearly affected after the match, said: “no voy a estar contento… aquí venimos a ganar partidos”, while also stating: “estoy orgulloso de mi equipo y del trabajo”. When asked about his future, he would not commit: “ojalá yo pueda seguir… ojalá podamos cambiar la dinámica”.

The dressing room backed him too. Víctor Valverde, returning after six months out, stressed that “el vestuario está unido… así que nosotros estamos con el míster a muerte”. Soberón added: “ojalá que el míster siga y me mojo, porque a mí me ha dado mucha confianza”.

This Saturday, Albacete face SD Eibar at the Carlos Belmonte in a key game that will weigh heavily on the owners’ patience.
