Aleix Febas returns to the Martínez Valero with Celta and gets emotional
Aleix Febas, now at Celta, felt the affection from Elche’s fans during his return to a stadium he played in for three seasons.
Aleix Febas returned to the Martínez Valero on Sunday with Celta after leaving Elche last summer, his first trip to the ground since the move. The match finished 0-0 between Elche and Celta.
The midfielder thanked the reception, saying: “I’ve always said it. I don’t know if I deserve that much affection. We created a very special bond with them and it moves me. On the pitch I try not to show it too much, but with time I’ll always remember today’s game.”
He also looked back on his Elche spell: “I like to be discreet, but in the three years I was there I gave everything I had. I was also lucky that, at a collective level, we had a lot of success, with a promotion and a very nice stay. An unforgettable memory.”
By contrast, Álvaro Núñez was booed by the fans for his departure in the last winter transfer window, and Sergio Carreira also returned to his former stadium from three seasons ago, according to MARCA.
