Alejandro Grimaldo on Atlético: “A shame” about the red card vs Stuttgart
The Atlético full-back reviewed the 1-1 in Stuttgart, saying the sending-off hurt after a strong start to the second half.
Alejandro Grimaldo, Atlético de Madrid’s player, assessed his team’s 1-1 draw against VfB Stuttgart in the Champions League and regretted the red card: “A shame.” Speaking to Movistar, he said they “struggled a lot” and made “many mistakes” when building play, which helped the German side get forward.
Playing on after the blow
He also noted the positive side: the squad “knew how to suffer” after going into half-time trailing 1-0. Grimaldo said they reacted well—“our start to the second half was very good”—but added that “a shame” came when they were left with ten, because at that moment they felt they could still turn the match.
A point that matters
Grimaldo stressed how difficult the venue is: “We knew we were coming to a very tough stadium.” On Julián’s goal to level at 1-1, he called it decisive, highlighting that the point will be “very important for what comes next”.
