Alejandro Hernández Hernández to referee the Barcelona-Real Madrid Clasico
The Canary Islands referee will take charge of the season’s first Clasico between Barcelona and Real Madrid, per Radio Marca.
Alejandro Hernández Hernández will referee the first Barcelona vs Real Madrid Clasico of the season, pending official confirmation, according to Roberto Gómez on Radio Marca this Wednesday.
The referee’s recent Clasico record includes a 2-0 Barcelona win in May, the same day the Blaugrana celebrated the league title. A year earlier, a high-profile moment came when a penalty for hands by Tchouaméni was not given, even though Barça still won 4-3 and kept the title run on track.
It will be his seventh Clasico: across his six previous matches, Barcelona have three wins, two draws, and one victory for Real Madrid. The most recent prior meeting on 18 December 2019 finished 0-0 at the Camp Nou. Hernández Hernández has refereed Barcelona 42 times (26 wins, 12 draws, 4 defeats) and Real Madrid 37 times (21 wins, 6 draws, 10 defeats).
