Alejandro Quintero González will referee Atlético’s first game in Vitoria
The Andalusian referee will take charge for the first time of an Atlético match at Mendizorroza; Pulido Santana is on VAR.
Alejandro Quintero González will referee Alavés vs Atlético Madrid at Mendizorroza, and it will be the first time in his career that the Andalusian takes charge of an Atlético game. The VAR team will include Pulido Santana, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Quintero González is in his third season officiating in LaLiga, but until now he had never directed a match involving Atlético. The appointment comes after Real Madrid’s protests over two possible red cards that were not spotted by Ortiz Arias in the Metropolitano derby.
For Alavés, this will be the eighth time the referee has handled one of their games. The balance with him is one win, three draws and four defeats. Their only victory came against Burgos in 2022-23, when Alavés were still in the Segunda division.
