Álex Sancet ruled out with a moderate left-soleus injury for Athletic

Athletic have confirmed that Álex Sancet has a “moderate muscle injury” in the left soleus, adding that his status is “pending evolution”, meaning he will be unavailable for the club’s next games.

The midfielder-forward, one of the mainstays in Athletic’s league start, trained normally on Tuesday during Lezama’s open session. Yesterday he missed training, along with Yuri Berchiche and Franck Djaló.

While the club does not specify a recovery timetable, the “moderate” severity is often associated with around three weeks on the sidelines.

The setback adds to Athletic’s current injury list, where Nico Williams was already sidelined after picking up a knock with Spain.
