Alex Scott withdraws from England squad with a thigh injury

Bournemouth face time without Alex Scott for six to eight weeks after the England midfielder withdrew for the Czech Republic match.

Alex Scott, Bournemouth midfielder, has withdrawn from the England squad for the clash with the Czech Republic at Wembley because of a thigh injury. BBC Sport reports the quadriceps problem could rule him out for six to eight weeks.

He felt the issue before the Nations League win over Croatia on Saturday, a 7-0 victory, but still played 70 minutes in central midfield alongside Elliot Anderson before being replaced. After that full debut performance, England boss Thomas Tuchel praised him, saying: “First start and what a start, what a performance… He is just the complete package.”

Ezri Konsa is also unavailable for the fixture and will return to Arsenal for treatment. Meanwhile, Bournemouth have nine games between 10 October and 8 November, including Europa League matches against Sturm Graz, AC Milan and Sparta Prague, plus the Carabao Cup against Aston Villa. Scott joins Eli Junior Kroupi on the injury list after the French forward’s foot problem from pre-season.
