Álex Sola (Almería) detained for drunk-driving test, disciplinary probe
The Almería winger registered 0.76 mg/L and crashed into three parked cars; the club may sanction him under internal rules.
Álex Sola, a player for UD Almería, was detained this Sunday by the local police after an accident in which he exceeded the legal alcohol limit and hit three parked cars. He was released pending a fast-track trial for an alleged offence against road safety.
The incident happened near Avenida de Montserrat at around 7:20, when Sola lost control of his grey BMW and ended up crossing into the opposite lane before colliding with the vehicles. He was travelling with two other people, left on foot, returned to the car to retrieve an item, then ran away again before being stopped in Calle Calzada de Castro.
In the breath test he recorded 0.76 milligrams of alcohol per litre of exhaled air, with no injuries reported, as EFE reported. Almería also plans to open disciplinary proceedings for what it considers insubordination. Sola is 27 and joined this summer as a free agent from Granada.
