Alexander Sorloth returns to Atlético after nearly two months out

The Norwegian rejoined the group on Monday, October 5, and aims to be in his first-season squad for Alavés at Mendizorroza.

Atlético de Madrid gets Alexander Sorloth back: on Monday, October 5, the striker returned to full training after recovering from a muscular injury that kept him out for almost two months. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, he rejoined the squad at the club’s Majadahonda training ground in the evening session.

During the break, Sorloth worked to get up to speed, and last week he was already testing on the pitch with a ball alongside the fitness recovery coach Óscar Pitillas. Even so, the coaching staff plans a cautious comeback, with a gradual rehabilitation process to avoid setbacks.

If he responds well over the next few days, Sorloth could be included in his first matchday squad of the season this weekend against Deportivo Alavés at Mendizorroza. He injured himself on August 12 and missed 55 days (seven weeks and five days). In that stretch, Atlético reshaped its attack and the role he was expected to take ended up going to Jonathan David, who scored three goals in three straight games.
