Alexander Sorloth steps up recovery as Atlético eye a return next week
The Atlético Madrid striker is back on the grass working alone after a muscle contracture, with a next-week return pencilled in.
Good news for Atlético de Madrid: Alexander Sorloth has made progress in recovering from his injury and trained on the pitch this Wednesday, September 30. Still working separately, he was on the annex field for an individual session including drills with cones, changes of pace and sprint series.
As reported by the club on August 12, the issue was a muscle contracture. He has missed pre-season, has not played a single match this campaign, and a later setback kept him longer on the sidelines.
The timetable now looks closer: it’s expected he can train with the rest of the squad next week, although his return will be gradual. Atlético’s next match is the Saturday, October 10 at 16:15 against Alavés in Mendizorroza, with 17 internationals away on duty.
