Alexis Saelemaekers ruled out until 2027 with AC Milan ankle injury
The Belgian has a new right-ankle issue and, according to L’Équipe, could miss action until 2027.
Alexis Saelemaekers (AC Milan) has suffered a new right-ankle injury and is expected to be out until 2027. AC Milan said tests showed the joint “lost stability” in the area of his earlier surgery after a recent incident during training, and that specialists are assessing the best treatment path.
The winger already had surgery in 2024 for a fracture of the medial malleolus. Italian media also expect another operation and place his return no earlier than the end of the year.
With international duty, Mark Van Bommel did not call him up for Belgium’s Nations League matches. Last season, Saelemaekers played 35 Serie A games (33 as a starter) and scored three times, while this campaign he has started only two of the first five matchdays.
