Ander Guevara answers the lack of minutes at San Mamés

Ander Guevara regained the spotlight for Alavés at San Mamés: he started in LaLiga for the first time since 6 December and stood out against Athletic Club. As MARCA notes, the midfielder has had fewer minutes in recent seasons, but this match showed why he matters.
With Quique calling for a more defensive mid-block, Guevara formed part of a double pivot after Mikel Rodríguez’s injury affected the squad. On the pitch, he recorded 6 ball recoveries, delivered 9 defensive contributions, and won 71% of his duels.
Last season he also produced when given the chance: he scored the equaliser vs Getafe and was key in the win over Real Sociedad. Quique had already backed him, saying: "Es un jugador excelente y está jugando menos minutos de los que merece. Va a tener su momento".
