Andoni Gorosabel debuts for Espanyol as friendly vs Ipswich ends 0-1
Espanyol were beaten 0-1 by Ipswich in a closed-door friendly and head into Friday’s La Rosaleda trip to face Málaga.
Espanyol played a closed-door friendly against Ipswich Town today and lost 0-1, a week before visiting Málaga at La Rosaleda (Friday 9, 21:00). The main talking point was the debut of Andoni Gorosabel for the blanquiazul side, while Javi Puado still did not get minutes after returning to training following a serious injury.
Managed by Manolo González, the session was also used to fine-tune things after Espanyol’s heavy home defeat to Elche just before the XL break. As Mundo Deportivo reports, the game helped players including Bryan Zaragoza, Gorosabel and Moscardo get some match rhythm ahead of the next big stretch.
Both teams arrived with absences due to international duty and injuries:
- Injured: Javi Hernández, Jofre and Kike García.
- On international duty: Roberto and Drkusic.
Ipswich, coached by Gary O’Neil, also had a “cataract” of absences because of call-ups, making it a very useful workload for both squads.
