Andrés Cuenca called up for U-20s but plays Oviedo derby

Sporting Gijón’s Andrés Cuenca has been called up by the Spain U-20s, but he will still be available for Sunday’s Asturian derby at the Real Oviedo’s Carlos Tartiere. Sporting asked the federation so the centre-back could play before reporting for international duty.

Cuenca is set to join Paco Gallardo’s U-20 squad for Spain’s friendly against Mexico on 30 September at the Cerro del Espino in Majadahonda. After appearing in the derby, he will return to the camp on Monday, with the RFEF granting permission to delay his arrival, as reported by Sport.
