Anthony Gordon shines for England and Maldini calls it ‘gold’

England’s 7-0 win over Croatia in Rijeka had plenty of standouts, but Anthony Gordon was one of the biggest highlights. Julio Maldonado “Maldini” put the winger at the center of the performance.

Gordon’s big night

Maldini said what impressed him most was how much danger Gordon created from the left side. He pointed to his pace, his ability to beat defenders, and his work without the ball: “Gordon very well, he’s generating a lot of danger from the left flank, with that burst of speed he has, and then him working off the ball.”

He also praised Gordon’s commitment when England lost possession, noting that he helped with pressing and defensive work. In a direct verdict on his form, Maldini summed it up: “Gordon is in an amazing run of form. I mean, everything he touches turns to gold, really.”

Maldini tied Gordon’s influence to the attacking trio too, highlighting Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham, insisting England overwhelmed Croatia with an almost perfect display.
