Anti-violence body proposes fines and stadium bans after Rayo-Athletic suspension

They propose a €5,000 fine and a 12-month ban for one fan, plus a €3,001 fine for 11 others involved.

Spain’s anti-violence commission has put forward sanctions after incidents that led to the Rayo Vallecano-Athletic Club match being suspended once it had already started at the Ramón Fuentes Periodista stadium.

The proposal says the game, scheduled for 10 October, was stopped twice because of coordinated launches of objects from across the venue. The first proposal targets a local radical supporter: a €5,000 fine and a 12-month ban from stadiums. The commission’s reasoning is that he actively took part in the three moments when objects were thrown, finishing with a seat that hit the goal net.

The second proposal is for 11 local radical fans: €3,001 in fines and a six-month ban. Anti-violence adds that the match was ultimately definitively suspended after referees spotted two seats torn from the stands among the items thrown. As noted by Mundo Deportivo, police continue reviewing images to identify everyone involved.
