Antony finishes Betis’s Osasuna match with fitness concerns
Betis will assess Antony’s condition with medical tests on Monday after he played just over 20 minutes and then felt discomfort.
Bad news for Real Betis: Antony finished the match against Osasuna (5-2) feeling physically unwell. He had started the game with ankle discomfort and managed just over 20 minutes, but another setback appeared.
After the final whistle, he sat on the pitch and teammates checked on him. In his press conference, Manuel Pellegrini said: “I managed to speak to him a bit, but it seems he had a small muscular issue; it had nothing to do with the ankle.” He also added that the plan was to bench him so he could recover: “Today we left him on the bench so he could have a few more days to get over the ankle.”
This Monday, tests will determine whether it’s a real injury or just a scare. If he’s hurt, his chances of playing are very slim for the Champions League games against Porto and FC Barcelona (Wednesday) and the LaLiga match on Saturday.
