Arda Güler avoids a red card and scores to put Real Madrid ahead
Before the half-hour mark, the Turk was booked after an incident with Peque and then celebrated with a stunning goal vs Sevilla.
Arda Güler, from Real Madrid, escaped a sending-off and celebrated by scoring the opener against Sevilla in a match marked by a VAR decision. Mateo Busquets Ferrer, the referee, drew criticism after an incident that left Güler with a yellow instead of a red, as Mundo Deportivo reports.
The flashpoint came before the 30-minute mark: Güler was grabbed by the shirt by Peque, and he pulled away with an elbow to the face, sparking a scuffle between players from both teams. The VAR checked the situation but did not ask the referee to review it on the screen, keeping the decision as a booking.
Minutes later, the script flipped for the better. Güler then scored a spectacular long-range strike from outside the box, crossed and curving into the net with pace, beating everyone to put Madrid 1-0 up.
