Arsen Zakharyan ends his drought: scored 20 months later for Real Sociedad
The Russian forward found the net again in LaLiga with a 2-0 goal vs Deportivo after 20 months without scoring in the league.
Arsen Zakharyan, for Real Sociedad, started as the most advanced option and scored in LaLiga 20 months after his last league goal. The strike came with a left-foot effort to make it 2-0 against Deportivo de A Coruña, in a match whose starting XI was set by Pellegrino Matarazzo.
The game also featured several other lineup surprises: Pablo Marín played at right-back, Yangel Herrera returned, and Mikel Oyarzabal was in the starting team despite having been sidelined by a suspension, with Orri Óskarsson unavailable for that same reason.
Zakharyan’s previous goal had been on 25 October 2025, when he scored in the Copa vs Negreira. His last LaLiga goal dated back to 23 February 2025, in the 3-0 win over Leganés—so the goal snapped a league drought of 20 months, according to MARCA.
