Arsenal with “renewed” Arteta as they aim big in Munich

After winning the Premier League 22 years later, Arsenal travel to the Allianz Arena to push for Champions glory with Arteta through 2030.

Arsenal arrive “renewed” under Mikel Arteta, whose deal runs until 2030, with the aim of going all the way in the Champions League again. The club changed its routine after winning the Premier League 22 years later, and at their London Colney base Arteta brought in specialists in behavioural psychology to demand more drive and ambition.

A different setup

This evening they play in Munich and return to the Allianz Arena with recent memories: they were knocked out in the last stages there, last time in 2024, when it ended 1-0. Arsenal’s squad is also more flexible, with up to 20 players potentially in the starting XI thanks to signings including Konsa, Tzolis, Guimarães, Hincapie and Meslier.

Prem and Europe momentum

In the Premier League, they came from a Sunday win at the City Ground (0-1) against Nottingham Forest, while in the Champions League they beat Lille 3-0. Arteta’s attacking patterns have shifted too: they’ve already scored five times after chaining at least 10 consecutive passes, but they still haven’t found the net from a direct free-kick or a corner routine. “We are at the start of what we can achieve together,” Arteta said.
