Athletic Club draw 0-0 in Valencia and waste another chance
The Basques earn a scoreless draw after 28 days, with Rego making his league debut and Guruzeta injured.
Athletic Club returned to a goalless draw in Valencia, letting a chance slip after controlling the first half. The 0-0 comes after 28 days since their last 0-0 at San Mamés, against Alavés.
A match shaped by changes
Valverde Terzic made several tweaks from the match versus Rayo: Rincón came in for Areso, Laporte took Yeray’s place, and Johaneko started at left-back instead of Yuri. Rego’s debut also stood out, but the key moment for Terzic was that the first half belonged to the Basques.
Guruzeta’s injury and late fatigue
Second-half balance shifted toward Valencia as Athletic’s energy dropped. After Guruzeta’s injury, the team also looked tired: Robert Navarro finished “stiff” and Berenguer showed muscle issues. Rego entered in the 63rd minute for Galarreta, and at half-time Terzic replaced Jauregizar with Gerenabarrena. “In the first half we put them under pressure, but we have to be more accurate and clear. In the second half they were better,” said Terzic, according to MARCA.
