Athletic return from Vallecas after suspension: almost a month without playing
The eighth-round match ended after 13 minutes and LaLiga must reschedule; Athletic could go almost a month without an official game.
Athletic returned to Bilbao after their Vallecas trip, for matchday eight, was suspended with the game played for just 13 minutes. The referee called it off around 3pm and LaLiga ruled out playing later behind closed doors or during today’s slate, pending a new date agreed with the club.
Almost a month on the calendar
If the match is not played this week, the Basque side face nearly a month without an official appearance. Their last competitive game was on September 19 at San Mamés against Alavés (0-0), and their next fixture is set for Saturday, October 17, away to Valencia at Mestalla.
Break and injuries
Between those dates, the squad has dealt with a long international break. In the meantime, after the EH Txapela final—played with the less-used players at Anoeta—Edin Terzic has also been without injured Nico Williams and Sancet. Time, for now, is the main factor.
