Atletico mocks Valverde’s “miracle” ankle recovery
The rojiblancos take aim at Real Madrid’s medical statement: Valverde is in the squad after a Grade 3 sprain that should have sidelined him longer.
Atlético Madrid hit back again at Real Madrid with a social media post questioning Federico Valverde’s ankle recovery and calling it “miraculous”. The club published the message after confirming the Uruguayan is included in the Real Madrid squad for the next match.
The controversy stems from the explanation Real Madrid gave about the seriousness of the injury. Atlético points out that Valverde missed international games due to a Grade 3 sprain, something that should have kept him out for more than a month—yet he was only out for three weeks. It then ties that turnaround to his unexpected call-up for the game against Villarreal.
In its post, Atlético wrote: “We want to congratulate Real Madrid for making history by showing that 100% of the global medical community was wrong”, and added hashtags including “#RecuperaciónMilagrosa” and “#EsguinceGrado3”.
