Aubameyang to undergo surgery: meniscus problem for Depor

Depor’s start to the season has taken a serious hit. As reported by Mundo Deportivo, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang (37) picked up a right meniscus injury in the match against Real Betis last weekend, with medical tests confirming the issue.

Until then, the striker had been a standout: he scored in five straight matchdays and added two assists across the seven games played so far.

Right meniscus and surgery

The club flagged the injury, and Mundo Deportivo says Aubameyang had an MRI on Monday. He then travelled to Madrid the same day to undergo further tests and assess the damage with the orthopaedic surgeon Manuel Leyes.

The meniscus problem means he will go under the knife. While Depor hasn’t set a specific return date, Mundo Deportivo’s report suggests he could be sidelined for around two months. The operation is scheduled for Thursday, with the club expecting him to receive medical clearance the same day.

Another blow in the same game

Depor’s troubles came in quick succession: in that same Betis match, Marc Casadó (on loan from FC Barcelona) also suffered a major injury. Mundo Deportivo adds that he too needed surgery due to a clavicle fracture.
