Barcelona assures Sunday Clasico will go ahead despite strike
No settlement in Catalonia’s labour tribunal: strike runs from Oct 23-26, but Barça says all planned matches will be played.
FC Barcelona has confirmed that the LaLiga EA Sports Clasico against Real Madrid will be played as scheduled next Sunday at 21:00, despite a strike call from the club’s fixed-discontinuous workers for the weekend.
The club says no agreement was reached at today’s conciliation hearing at the Labour Tribunal of Catalonia, so the strike will run from 00:00 on October 23 to 06:00 on October 26. Around 60 employees are involved, and they are protesting what they see as a deterioration in working conditions, including insufficient staffing to cover the full logistics for events held at the club’s facilities.
Barça adds that all professional matches scheduled this weekend at Spotify Camp Nou, Estadi Johan Cruyff and Palau Blaugrana—and also youth games at Ciutat Esportiva Joan Gamper—will go ahead, and that they will not use substitutions they consider unlawful, as reported by Mundo Deportivo.
Beyond Barça-Real Madrid, the women’s first team host Granada at Johan Cruyff on Saturday 24 at 20:30. At Palau Blaugrana, handball faces Rebi Cuenca on Friday 23 at 19:00, and basketball takes on Casademont Zaragoza on Saturday 24 at 21:00.
