Bayern aim to overpower Viking in Norway: Neuer is out

The Bayern München head to Norway for matchday two of the Champions League league phase with a trip to Viking, facing the artificial pitch at Viking Stadium. They opened the competition by thrashing Bodø/Glimt 5-0, but domestically have shown early doubts: last Saturday they dropped their second draw in five games, 2-2 vs Augsburg.

Viking, competing in Europe for the first time, lost on debut to VfB Stuttgart 3-1. As Mundo Deportivo reports, the clash is also shaped by Manuel Neuer’s fitness: he traveled but will miss the game with a foot issue, having not trained on Sunday or on the day prior. Jonas Urbig will take his place.

Also absent is Jamal Musiala, out with a muscle injury. Konrad Laimer is expected to return at right-back after missing the Augsburg game due to the birth of his child. Up front, Harry Kane comes off a goal against Bodø/Glimt and is targeting a ninth consecutive Champions League match with a goal.
