Bernardo Silva fires as Real Madrid crush Leipzig 4-1 in the UCL
Mbappé scored and Diomande sealed it 4-1: Madrid keep winning and target the Top 8.
Real Madrid thrashed RB Leipzig 4-1 this Wednesday in the Champions League, with Bernardo Silva breaking the deadlock late in the first half and Arda Güler doubling the lead right after the interval. Kylian Mbappé made it three, Tidiam Gomis pulled one back and Yan Diomande capped the win at the end.
Mbappé pushes for Top 8
After the match, Mbappé stressed the standings: “We know every point is important to get into the top eight… we’ve won three and there are five to go.” He also pointed to his form, saying he has scored in every Champions League game for Madrid this season, with 12 goals in 12 matches.
Elsewhere, LASK upset Sporting CP to record their first Champions League win of the season. The Austrian side went behind when Luis Suárez scored from the spot after five minutes, levelled 10 minutes later through Christoph Lang, then took control with goals from Sasa Kalajdzic and Krystof Danek to go 3-1 up. Suárez added again late on, but it wasn’t enough.
According to The Guardian, Galatasaray beat Lille 4-2, Inter edged Shakhtar 1-0 after Alessandro Bastoni’s red card with Carlos Augusto scoring late, and Real Betis won 1-0 over Feyenoord as Isco converted a penalty.
