Betis beat Getafe 1-0 at La Cartuja and keep pressing up top

Tight contest, Betis in charge

The match started at a high pace, with chances for both sides. Sport reports that the first scare came from Getafe, with both goalkeepers—Álvaro Valles and David Soria—making key saves. Before halftime, Ez Abde scored in the 45th minute (1-0). The goal didn’t come without tension: the VAR check was triggered by a possible hand/arm contact at the start of the move, according to Sport.

In the second half, Betis managed the game, aiming to keep possession and provoke Getafe forward to open spaces—though they couldn’t find a second goal. The visitors tried to fight back at the end even after playing with one man less, following a second yellow card to Mario Martín.

Rotations and tactical setup

Sport says Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini made seven changes compared to the XI used the previous Monday at La Cerámica (1-2). José Bordalás responded with four changes as well: David Davinchi and Andrés García took the full-back spots, Zaid Romero returned from suspension, and Francho Serrano replaced Enes Ünal.

The referee, José María Sánchez, showed two yellows to Martín and also booked Getafe’s coach José Bordalás. The stadium atmosphere at La Cartuja saw 57,792 spectators.
