Bissouma is an Ajax player until season’s end after Spurs exit

Yves Bissouma has completed his move to Ajax, with BBC Sport reporting that the former Tottenham midfielder has signed an initial contract until the end of the season. The defensive midfielder, 30, arrived after being released when his Tottenham deal expired in June.

Deal runs to season end

As BBC Sport understands, while it’s set to run to the end of the campaign, the agreement also includes an option to extend for a further 12 months. Ajax say the groundwork began earlier too: their technical director Jordi Cruyff explained that they’d been in talks with Bissouma since August.

Cruyff told the club website that Ajax have brought in an experienced player who understands what’s required to perform at the highest level, and that he’s capable of playing in several positions—with the hope he’ll be available for selection as soon as possible.

Tottenham numbers

Bissouma joined Spurs in 2022 and, according to BBC Sport, made 111 appearances for the north London side after moving from Brighton. In his final season at the club, he featured 11 times, all of them in the Premier League, as Tottenham finished 17th for the second consecutive season.

The same report also notes that in August 2025, then-Spurs manager Thomas Frank left Bissouma out of the squad for the UEFA Super Cup clash against Paris St-Germain, citing persistent lateness.
