Bordalás: “It’s a nightmare” with Getafe’s fatigue

Getafe’s Sunday 1-0 win over Málaga at the Coliseum brought welcome relief, and Bordalás highlighted the importance of the three points in his post-match press conference. The Getafe boss said he is “very happy” with the result, while stressing that the team is being pushed to the limit by fatigue and an intense schedule.

A victory with breathing space

Bordalás explained that the win was needed “at this moment”, especially with the upcoming international break that he believes will help the squad reset. Even so, he repeatedly described the current situation as a constant struggle: in his words, it’s “a nightmare” and the effort has been “titanic”, with many players coping with “just enough” energy.

He also pointed out that Málaga were “bold” and “vertical”, with good individual quality, which meant that after scoring Getafe had to shift to a more defensive approach, moving to a back three. He added that this start to the season has brought heavy demands, forcing him to use players in roles that aren’t their usual ones, because of limited options and injuries.

Fever, minutes, and reshuffling

The coach addressed Djené’s condition, saying the player was unwell before kick-off: he had a fever after a bad night. Bordalás said Djené tried to manage it with treatment to be ready, but reached the point where he “couldn’t take it anymore”.

He also referenced Ramón, who had a problem but still had to play, and noted that Andrés likewise featured despite the squad being short on fresh legs.

Break and the tough run ahead

Bordalás expects the next break to provide physical and mental recovery, describing it as “rest” after a “brutal” run of fixtures. However, he warned that the schedule doesn’t ease: after the break comes the “Tourmalet”, beginning with the Conference, with opponents of the highest level.

On refereeing, he declined to add more and said he would stick to what he already expressed earlier, as MARCA reported.
