Bordalás: “We’re playing a lot” vs Málaga at Getafe

José Bordalás heads into the Getafe–Málaga build-up with a blunt message: according to Sport, the home game is one of those where “we’re playing a lot” and you don’t win by simply playing well. The Getafe boss stressed that “tomorrow we can’t just play well” and insisted that they need to win, calling it “really important” against a side that, in his view, won’t make it easy.

Bordalás also tried to shut down the arbitral talk that followed last Thursday’s loss to Real Betis. “Now isn’t the time to talk about referees,” he said, putting all the attention on the game against Málaga. He also argued his team must take a step forward: he believes they’ve earned better outcomes, even if the performances haven’t been enough so far.

Málaga aren’t an easy rival

The coach rejected the idea of Málaga being an easier opponent just because they’ve just secured promotion. “We can’t forget… it’s a historic club that had a great season,” he said, adding that in LaLiga “every team has an enormous level of difficulty”. He warned that, because of that, no one gets easy wins—except for the biggest teams.

In terms of squad news, Bordalás confirmed doubts over Ramón Terrats and Borja Mayoral. Terrats picked up a minor injury, while Mayoral missed the previous Betis matchday squad with a knee inflammation. Bordalás explained that every week brings problems when building a lineup, including the need to draw from the youth setup due to heavy minutes.

Finally, he commented on the possibility of David Soria making the Spanish squad. He said he respects Luis de la Fuente’s decision-making but added that he hopes the goalkeeper gets called up, noting he believes Soria has earned it.
