Bournemouth earned their first Premier League win of the season by beating Sunderland 2-0, with goals from Marcus Tavernier and Evanílson. The decisive moment came when Sunderland’s Kevin Danso was shown a straight red card.
The hosts started strongly, and after Sunderland failed to clear a routine long ball, Evanílson pounced before playing it through for Tavernier to score at close range. Soon after, Danso was sent off after pulling down Evanílson as he broke through on goal.
Sunderland managed to keep the game within one in the first half, but the contest stretched quickly after the restart. Evanílson made it two with a finish after a loose back pass. Sky Sports described it as a comfortable win for the Cherries despite playing against 10 men.
