Brighton extend run with 0-2 win over Sunderland to go third
Brighton make it three straight wins: De Cuyper scores in the 53rd and Hadjam adds the late 0-2; they’re two points off the top.
Brighton beat Sunderland 0–2 after a goal by Maxim De Cuyper in the 53rd minute and a late second, with Joauen Hadjam making it 0–2 in the closing stages. The result gives Brighton a third consecutive win and lifts them into third place.
Before the break, they had already backed up the momentum with a 3–0 win over Arsenal and a 0–5 victory at Coventry, and this weekend keeps them firmly in the Champions League spots. Sunderland’s side, meanwhile, has now gone four matches without a win: their last three have ended in defeats and they sit just a point above the relegation zone.
As Mundo Deportivo reports, it’s a sharp contrast with last season, when Sunderland were difficult to beat at home and opponents found it hard to take points.
