Bruno Fernandes and Atlético: the club’s 2027 market watch
Atlético are keeping an eye on Bruno Fernandes’ 2027 contract with Man United, with a reported demand of €471,000 per week.
Atlético Madrid are monitoring Bruno Fernandes, whose Manchester United contract runs out in 2027 and who could become a target for the next summer market. However, the English club’s intention is to renew him, which their board considers “non-negotiable”, as reported by British media.
A long-standing wish
Mateu Alemany, Atlético’s Director of Professional Football, is linked to the club’s strategy of signing players nearing the end of their deals. Last summer, Ferrán Torres was a similar case, but PSG’s bid stopped him arriving on a free.
The sticking point: salary
The Portuguese also has plenty of competition: Juventus, AC Milan, Galatasaray and clubs from Saudi Arabia are mentioned. The key obstacle is wage level: reports point to €471,000 per week (about €13m net per season). Atlético’s interest dates back to the 2017 Europa League tie between Sporting and the club, when Simeone said: “If I could sign just one player from European football, it would be Bruno Fernandes”.
