Bruno Genesio warns: Olympique de Marseille are in “emergency”
The OM coach says the team must stop the bleeding after four straight league losses before five matches in 15 days.
Bruno Genesio has raised the alarm at Olympique de Marseille: the club is in “an emergency situation” after four straight Ligue 1 defeats. The coach said so this Friday in his press conference, taking stock of the season’s first stretch and focusing on the next run of games up to the next international break.
Genesio believes the long international pause didn’t stall progress. He says the team used those three weeks to work with the players who stayed at la Commanderie, despite injuries to Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Derek Cornelius. He also wants the squad to move forward without being mentally trapped by the league table: “four defeats in a row isn’t good for the atmosphere.”
The run starts at Troyes
This Sunday, Marseille begin the new cycle with a trip to Troyes to finish the 6th matchday. Genesio cautioned against complacency: “it could penalise us” to think it’s enough just to show up. He stressed that the schedule becomes decisive when you project it until the next break.
During the trêve, the coach also spoke with sporting director Grégory Lorenzi and president Stéphane Richard to assess the club’s short- and medium-term plan. Genesio said he was reassured: the direction is aligned with his view, and the goal is to get the club out of a tough period—using ideas not only for the immediate future. (RMC Sport)
